The Big Move

During the last week of July, Chris and I made the biggest decision I believe we have ever made... he accepted a position with Sanderson Farms in Moultrie, Georgia. He began is position (Field Employee Relations Manager) on August 2, 2010, and we have been in a crazy scramble since that time. Within the past two months, we have lived in our home in Moselle, the Moultrie Hampton Inn for a month, a Moultrie apartment for two weeks and now our new home in Hahira, Georgia which is about a 30-minute drive for Chris to work. Hahira is a quiet town with one red light and a Subway. It is very close to Valdosta which is like Hattiesburg, thankfully!!

Of course, we can't stay away from home (Mississippi) for long periods, so we make the long journey (about 7 hours or so) back and forth every few weekends to see our family and friends and to tailgate at Southern. (Go Eagles!!) Max absolutely loves the rides in the car, but is not too fond of being left alone at the new house just yet. We are working on that, since he tends to have a chewing habit when we are gone.

We love our new house!

We still have some work to do like putting up curtains (we have pillows in our bathroom window right now) and a few other things, but it is beginning to feel like a home. We have had and have more family coming to visit which helps A LOT!! I love my dark, almost black kitchen, and we have 4 bedrooms with lots of storage and enough room for a bunch of visitors! At first, we were worried that Max would not like it, but he LOVES the backyard! He is much more playful since we have been here.

On a side note, Mississippi is not as "back woods" as everyone thinks! Georgia is by far the countriest place I have ever been! There are cotton, peanut and vegetable fields EVERYWHERE! So, the next time you put on your cotton shirt, it probably began its life near our house!

Hopefully you will find our new life interesting as we make the transition from magnolias to peaches, but we will always be magnolias at heart.

With love from I-10 on a late-night trip back to MS!
